3D Printing of Free-Standing Lattice Structures

3D bioprinting opens up new opportunities for fabricating organs and tissues, which are needed e.g. in organ transplantation and drug development. Yet although existing bioinks are cell-compatible and printable, they cannot sufficiently replicate the physiological structure and composition of tissues. In the PhysioINK project, Fraunhofer researchers develop bio-printing inks from the most common tissue proteins, which enable reconstruction of physiological tissue structures without chemical modification.
