At Fraunhofer IKTS, innovative dressings are electrospun from polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable polymer inside the body. Thanks to specially incorporated active substances, they sustainably improve wound healing and effectively prevent wound infection.

 

Not every injury heals without complications. People with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes often suffer from chronic wounds. Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS are developing special dressings that can accelerate the healing process.
